Ban Jelačić Square
The Austro – Hungarian styled square is truly heart of the city. Perfect place for a nice walk, shopping or sipping coffee in one of the local cafés.
Zagreb Cathedral
The most important sacral object in Croatia. The cathedral is typically Gothic with two spires which can be seen from many locations in the city.
St. Mark’s Church
A central church in Gradec built as early as the 13th century. The church was completely reconstructed in the 19th century and her remarkable roof was made in 1880.
Furnicular
It was built in 1888 and it is very attractive transportation connecting the Ilica Street (Donji Grad) with Strossmayerovo šetalište (Strossmayer promenade) to the north (Gornji Grad).
The stone gate
The main entry into today’s Upper City and the only preserved entrance gate from 13th century. The gate displayed a painting of Mary and Jesus which was miraculously undamaged in the fire in 1731. The painting is visited regularly by all the ones who come and pray.
Medvedgrad castle
Medvedgrad Castle is located on Medvednica Mountain to the west of Zagreb. Built in the 13th century, this castle fell to ruin after an earthquake in the 16th century. Some parts of it have since been restored, and Medvedgrad castle now houses a museum and restaurant.
Zagreb city museum
The Museum was established in 1907 by the Association of the Braća Hrvatskog Zmaja. It is located in a restored monumental complex (Popov toranj, the Observatory, Zakmardi Granary) of the former Convent of the Poor Clares, of 1650. The Museum deals with topics from the cultural, artistic, economic and political history of the city in a span from Roman finds until the modern period.
